2 - We started the project by building the spine, head to tip of the tail with a tube of newspaper. We made the legs with the same technique.
We then added what we called "mangoes", newspaper balls that we wrapped around the legs and the spine to create muscles. When plenty of muscles were added we covered our dinosaurs with newspaper stripes to create the skin.
3 - And at last, we painted them to make sure they were either camouflaged or colorful and textured.
Welcome to the Elementary Art Gallery!
Unit 4: Dinosaurs
Grade 2 made 3D dinosaurs!
A 10th of their original size.
Grade 2 worked in three phases:
1 - They first researched on dinosaurs to find out which one they liked the best.
They looked at the dinosaurs measurements: height, weight but above all length.
We compared their lengths and decided that it would be feasible to make them all in proportions with each other and a 10th of their real size.
So a 40 feet Stegosaurus would become a 3D papier-maché dinosaur of 4 feet.
